How can I prepare in high school to be a professional photographer and go to art school?

I'm in 10th grade, and I am very interested in going to MICA. (Maryland Institute College of Art) Or any other art school, for that matter. But above all that. What can I do now to begin to prepare for the application of / to get an art school? Also, do the grades are very important for art schools, or is mostly about the portfolio? I'm sorry if anything I said makes no sense.
