Calling all Photoshop experts! Please! Help!?

Hello. I am a beginner in Photoshop (I have Elements 6.0) and plenty of guides Beginners have plenty of holes, so I have some questions. I would love it forever if you could help me with this! What is a layer mask (some websites say it has suppressed, but what do ???)? is the cookie cutter tool, how can I access it and change and stuff? This is sort of chance, but I saw when I was desperately searching through the options or settings or tools or something like that: What makes Unsharp Mask filter to do? How many layers can be active at the same time? How can you turn a layer? How can you automatically correct red eyes (it probably has something to do with red-eye tool, but it did not work when I just clicked on it)? Once again, I would love for all If life gave me no help!

Layer mask is a map of the layer, it is painted on white and black to hide parts of the image. The number of layers is unlimited. To rotate a layer, select it and Ctrl + T and then move the mouse near the corner pins. Not sure red eye elements.
