Canon PowerShot A560, which will help me?

I want to download some of my photos to my computer from my Canon PowerShot A560. I have a Windows XP. I read "Installation software and USB driver on the Canon software for beginners Guide. I followed the rules, but then got stuck in step 10. I installed the Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk Version 30.0, which you installed ZoomBrowser EX 5.8, PhotoStitch 3.1, Camera TWAIN driver 6.7 and EOS Utility 1.1. I restarted the computer and then took the disc out, just like you said. Then I plugged my Canon PowerShot A560 in the computer with my USB cable. And nothing happened when I logged in. Nothing at all. So what is wrong and what happened? Thank you very much for answer and help! (:

You can shut down your computer properly. Wait 10 seconds. Then restart the computer. 1. Charge camera batteries completely. 2. The Canon camera, memory card must be in 3. Then turn on the camera and take a picture. 4. If the answering other right (Canon has to be at stake or REVIEW (like VCR play symbol) 4. Immediately after connecting the camera to the computer using the USB cable. (Some USB hubs need to be powered by an AC adapter)
