What is a good camera for a beginner in photography?

Looking for a good camera for a beginner in photography Recreation .. I've recently taken an interest in photography and I need a better camera .. lol made for the picture if that makes sense ... thanks =)

While there are many good point and shoot cameras there I will always recommend someone to have a digital SLR entry-level, if your budget allows. The reason is simply because as it grows a DSLR can grow with you through the lenses. You do not have that luxury with a point and shoot. They also open new avenues of creativity that is not possible (yet) have a point and shoot. Since I am a shooter I would recommend the Canon Rebel XTi or XSI. A XTI used can be taken for about $ 400 - $ 500 with the goal of the kit. People talk trash from the lens to no end, but really not that bad. Without knowing what you're shooting I can not suggest any other lens. The first one I had was the standard cheapo 50mm 1.8. Its about $ 75 and use the money for a lens of its fine. Building inexpensive but image quality is decent for the dollar. I'm not sure what XSI is going for now. However, I have spoken with some people who "upgraded" the XTI and complained for several reasons. Nikon's entry level cameras are equally enjoyable (I hear) so it happens when you look up. While perpetuating the myth that one is better than the other Canon and Nikon both produce fine cameras.
